Check out the proposed improvements to the undercroft

There is a planning application for improvements to the Undercroft - the buildings underneath the Terrace and Memorial Arch in the Memorial Gardens. The buildings are semi-derelict, at the moment, housing old toilet blocks for Women and Men, and a pump room to service the fountains, no longer functioning. The improvements include an accessible toilet for people with disabilities who are Radar key holders, 2 unisex toilets, a store/meeting room for volunteers to meet and shelter with a small tea point. The plans for the forthcoming improvements to the Gardens, which will be funded by the Lottery Fund, include a proposal for a park ranger post to develop, encourage and support volunteers in the Gardens - introducing visitors to the Gardens and its historic Memorials, organising Tree trails, children's activities , assisting the Gardeners etc. The volunteers referred to in the Planning Application primarily relates to these volunteers, not necessarily to the MeGA gardening Group.
